History of The School
Sophia Senior Secondary School, Bikaner is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. It is at present up to class XII. It was established in 1962 as a Primary School in the Bikaner fort. In 1963 it moved to Bidasar House and in 1969 it moved on to its present premises.
Milestones
1962 SOPHIA founded as a Primary School, Location----Bikaner Fort. Principal----Sr. Melanie. First Child KG----Aruna Kumari, Primary----Sushila Kumari Shekhawat.
1963 The school moves to Bidasar house.
1964
Classes are raised upto Middle Section.
1969
Sophia shifts to present location.
1970 The School is awarded official recognition as a Middle School.
1972 Class IX is introduced.
1973 Separate KG Section ----to accommodate the increasing number on rolls.
1974 Permission granted for the introduction of Higher Secondary Class.
1975 First batch of Higher Secondary passes out with 100% results. The Science block is ready and well equipped.
1976 A new wing is added to the primary Section.
1977 Construction of a large underground Library and Reading room. A few more classrooms are added to the structure.
1978 The school features high on the Merit List at Secondary & Higher Secondary Exams.
1980 Position on the Merit List continues to be retained. Basket ball court is constructed.
1981 Results continue to be meritorious.
1982 An open air stage is constructed. The school maintains commendable results.
1983 The School band is formed. First issue of School Magazine is published. Bindu Rathore and Pratibha Marken go for Nationals
in Basket ball. In academics the School steps up higher. Arti Joshi bags National Talent Search Scholarship.
1984 The school maintains its academic excellence and bags second position at the Higher Secondary level. Navreet Sandhu
is selected for Basket ball Nationals. Rajneesh Kaur is awarded 'President's Guide'.
1985 District Basket Ball championship Shield won for three consecutive years.
1986 Another storey to the school building is added.
1987 Silver Jubilee celebrated.
